Ugh I have been so sick it's ridiculous. Tuesday last week I was supposed to have a job interview but I was throwing up/coughing up blood (too much info? Whatever, deal with it) so I could NOT go. Wednesday I went to the doctor and he was all, "Oh, it's just a sinus infection. Take these tablets." But they did absolutely nothing and I ended up getting worse. It was basically just a cold/flu x10. I ended up not sleeping properly all week because I couldn't breathe but my asthma inhaler was doing nothing to help with that. But whatever, I'm feeling okay-ish today.
In the middle of all this I still went to Soundwave and it was amazing. The line-up in general wasn't really my thing but my cousins Amber and Cahlia, who are 16 and 15 respectively, weren't allowed to go if I didn't take them. So I did, 'cause I'm awesome. I did really want to see The Gaslight Anthem and Sum 41 though. So it wasn't a total loss on my behalf. BUT ANYWAY! Amber, Cahlia, their friends Stacie and Jesse, my friend Jaron and I all caught the train at some ridiculous hour to Melbourne which was actually a lot of fun. Once we got to Soundwave we parted ways with Jaron 'cause he listens to completely different music to us and went and got merch etc. It was such a fun day. I ended up seeing Social Distortion (who were actually the highlight of my day - they were so fucking incredible), The Gaslight Anthem, Thirty Seconds To Mars, We The Kings, Never Shout Never, The Blackout, Mayday Parade, Bayside and a little bit of Queens Of The Stone Age. Thirty Seconds To Mars exceeded my expectations. I only watched them because a) Sum 41 pulled out so I wasn't seeing anyone at that time, b) Stacie didn't want to see them alone, and c) I'm actually a big fan of Jared Leto's films. Everyone had been telling me they were shit live but they really weren't. They (or really, he) is SO GOOD with the crowd. At the end he picked about 15 people to come up on stage with him and then they were just letting anyone get up there. There ended up being about 50 people on stage, Stacie and I were so close to getting up there but then the security guard was an asshole and wouldn't let anyone else up :( The Gaslight Anthem were also really great but I already knew they would be. Except they were the last band so by the time they played I was exhausted and ready for bed haha. Never Shout Never was my least favourite of the day. I only even saw him because Amber is in love with him (which may be an understatement) but he just seemed like the biggest douchebag ever. He was smoking (which is okay - I don't have anything against smokers.. but like, you're on stage. Is it really necessary? Can't you just wait until your set is over? Fuck. It doesn't make you cool) and the only times he really spoke was to say idiot things like, "This song is about smoking weed. In America we get high every day." Again, I don't have anything against people who smoke weed.. but is it really appropriate to be telling your 14 year old fans that you smoke weed all the time and that it's awesome? Good role model, no really.
That's about all I've done lately. Other than lay on the couch watching The Social Network over and over again waiting to get better. But here are the photos of Kate and I with Clint and Matt from TGP that I said I'd post:

Also, just wanted to give Rhiannon a plug because her blog is really passionate and well-written and more people need to read it.

Coughing up blood :o that doesn't sound good. I'm such a softie I hate being ill if I get the slightest cold I'm convinced I'm dying ha! But sounds like you had a good weekend :) I despiseeeee smoking, you're right there's nothing more unattractive!

You should honestly consider converting to WP when you get the chance (and a computer ha) it's definitely worth it! I'm starting to see what all the fuss is about :)
And I want someone to do a treasure hunt for me too! Which is partly the reason why I did one for Scott ha. I doubt he'll take the hint though. Hmmm maybe one day... :(
I AM SO PROUD THAT YOU SAW BAYSIDE YOU HAVE NO IDEA MY APPRECIATION FOR YOUR EXISTENCE IS SEEPING THROUGH MY SOUL.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the same thing happened at 30STM here, with the people on stage. They were the dudes with the VIP passes or something. I didn't see NSN, but my friends saw one song and left, he was that douchey. Oh well, his loss :P
AWH MATTY! <3
